OK, so the previous post was dedicated to an Apollo Brown release, well, this eighth spot is no different. Another dope album that came from Apollo, or, better said, from his group.
The Left – Gas Mask
The Left is a group consisting of producer Apollo Brown, emcee Journalist 103 and DJ Soko, all three hailing form Detroit. I don’t even know where to begin with this album right here. After listening to it a couple of times, I can honestly say that it comes near to perfection. Using meticulous lyrics on gritty production, the album manages to captures the desolation, frustration, desperation, and depression of the current state of Detroit City. This one is a must listen for every hip-hop fan and not only.
You’re the reason why I keep it going
The threshold to my honor, a privilege that I’m blessed to know it
Even through rain, hail or snowing
Regardless to the stress, you stil push to keep the love flowing
I didn’t have a share of love that done came and went
Backing the patience it takes to build an establishment
You’re like a diamond in the ruff to a cave of wonders
You got the treasure that can split a man’s heart in sunder
When the world starts to rain and thunder
You’re the bridge, or support that I go and seek shelter under
From cold winters to the hot summers
You’re the love that I cherrish and be, ain’t no need to wonder.
